Our vision is for the most innovative early-stage social purpose organisations (SPOs) to get the support they need to scale their service of vulnerable people, and for our volunteers to be inspired to live a life of giving.
Having admired the work of 10x10 from afar, I am very pleased to have joined at a pivotal point in its impact journey. 10x10 is uniquely positioned in the social impact sector. For 10 years it has been a catalyst of impact, opportunity and change. It has given hundreds of early-stage social purpose organisations transformative opportunities of capital and other benefits. Many attribute their success to having partnered early with 10x10; the early connection helping them attract other capital and build their own communities.
Similarly, thousands of socially minded volunteers have started their philanthropic journeys with 10x10. For many, this has also been catalytic: sparking journeys through careers, skilled volunteering, and other paths with sometimes profound effect on the social impact ecosystem. And now, through its partnership with Community Capital, 10x10 is connecting some of its most promising social purpose organisations with multi-year scale capital.
10x10 is fundamentally a people enterprise, both in terms of the impact it drives and the vast teams of people upon whom it relies. In that spirit, I say a huge ‘thank you’ to our incredible major supporters and funders, our partners, our volunteers, the founders of the many social purpose enterprises who trust us on their journeys, and of course our management team and Board. I would also like to warmly welcome our wonderful new CEO, Michele Renshaw, and to sincerely thank our formidable former CEO, Nici Andronicus. I would also like to thank former Chair and Co-Founder Laurence Marshbaum who has injected his heart and soul into 10x10. We are fortunate to have his continued expertise.
We have big ambition for the period ahead. We will increase focus on our areas of biggest opportunity. We will drive even bigger outcomes by focusing on what we do best, maturing how we track the breadth of our impact, and leveraging our expertise, our resources and the incredible power of our movement. I hope you will join us.
In 2014 I was on the stage of a 10X10 event. As the CEO of an early stage social purpose organisation (SPO), One Disease, we partnered with First Nations communities to eliminate a debilitating disease. Standing on that stage, I experienced first hand the energy and commitment of the 10x10 volunteers. Thanks to the opportunity to hone our pitch on the night, One Disease was fortunate enough to receive funding, and I was able to experience the benefits of the vital connections created through 10x10 and the impact that funding created.
Now, as CEO, I am so excited to be at the helm and magnify the impact of 10x10 even further. Today, we can not only focus on our proven model of events and grassroots philanthropy, but now also expand into venture philanthropy.
In the recent Productivity Commission Report, it was disclosed 94% of donations go to the largest 10% of charities. With this in mind, the role we play in connecting socially minded people to early stage SPOs is more important than ever. Connecting our ecosystem of innovative early stage SPOs to additional transformative, multi-year gifts as they traverse the growth cycle will be a fundamental step in elevating the lives of others and creating big change. Because big change requires a collective.
I would like to extend a huge thank you to our volunteer community, our partners, and our team who have all been a part of the 10x10 impact story to date. I look forward to partnering with you in 2024 and beyond.

The Problem:
61% of young people aged 10-17 re-offend within six months of release. Joe Kwon, founder of Confit Pathways, aims to change this through mentorship, having experienced its transformative power during his 13-year prison term.
The Model:
Confit Pathways offers mentoring in Youth Justice Centres and prevention programs in schools and communities. These programs, led by mentors with personal experience, focus on positive development in fitness, employment, and education.
The Impact:
Confit Pathways is expanding its reach by opening its first Confit Gym and collaborations for impact evaluation. Its success translates to significant societal savings, with every ten youths avoiding re-incarceration saving over $5 million.
The Problem:
Migrant, refugee, and asylum seeker communities face barriers to healthcare access due to language and cultural differences, and complex systems. Dr. Linny Kimly Phuong, inspired by her refugee parents, seeks to address this challenge.
The Model:
The Water Well Project collaborates with community organisations to offer free, interactive health education tailored to the unique needs of migrant, refugee, and asylum seeker groups, facilitated by volunteer healthcare professionals.
The Impact:
The Project has conducted over 1000 health literacy sessions, reaching 16,000+ participants across 40+ language groups in Victoria, New South Wales, and Tasmania, and recently introduced 'taster' boxes to extend its outreach.
The Problem:
In Australia, 1 in 6 women experience domestic violence. Many families escaping this violence find themselves in homes without any basic necessities.
The Model:
Re-Love offers quality, rescued furniture and household items at no cost to families in crisis. Clients, aided by case workers, choose from donations by suppliers and corporates, which are then delivered and assembled by volunteers, transforming empty spaces into comfortable homes.
The Impact:
Re-Love has furnished 1,000+ homes and diverted 2,250 tonnes of furniture from landfills, valued at $10M. They furnish 15 homes weekly and sell excess furniture for additional funds. Re-Love is growing, starting pilot operations in Melbourne.
The Problem:
In Los Angeles, an alarming volume of unrecycled plastics is causing environmental damage, contributing to pollution in landfills and natural areas. Simultaneously, the city faces a significant challenge with homelessness, leaving many without basic necessities like a comfortable place to sleep.
The Model:
Bags Into Beds is addressing these dual challenges innovatively. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, it focuses on transforming unrecycled plastics into sustainable bedding for those experiencing homelessness. Their process involves creating pillows and other bedding items that not only provide comfort to those in need but also help in reducing plastic waste. Each donated pillow represents a tangible step towards environmental sustainability while offering immediate aid to marginalized individuals.
The Impact:
To date, Bags Into Beds has successfully diverted 7600 pounds of plastic from landfills and waterways, directly contributing to environmental preservation. This initiative not only aids in managing the city's waste but also provides essential comfort to people experiencing homelessness. Their work exemplifies a dual-impact approach, tackling both environmental and social issues through creative and sustainable solutions.
The Problem:

The Model:
By focusing on various demographics, from young individuals to working professionals, The Last Chance Project offers tailored approaches for different needs, ensuring that no man is left behind.
The Impact:
The Last Chance Project transforms lives by fostering mental well-being in men across various settings, from schools to workplaces. Its impact, evidenced in enhanced reflection and support networks, contributes to a more empathetic and mentally healthier Aotearoa New Zealand.

Philanthropy
We can't do what we do without the generous donations from our partners. Each year we like to spotlight one of our partners. Each year we like to spotlight one of our partners.
10x10 matches the early stage, innovative SPOs in our ecosystem with the ambitions of our venture philanthropy partners - investment funds, corporate foundations and philanthropists. Partnering for effective and efficient grant making provides our SPOs with transformative, multi-year gifts to traverse the growth cycle.
The Next Generation Foundation are partners of 10x10 in the development and growth of the Venture Philanthropy side of our organisation. Specifically, they supported our inaugural partnership with the Community Capital Credit Fund. As a direct result of this partnership and support from the Next Generation Foundation, we saw a 65% increase in funds dispersed to SPOs in 2023. We anticipate this growth to be amplified further with additional Venture Philanthropy partners in our pipeline for 2024.
Thank you to Nick, Gabi, Kathy and Courtney who share our vision to support social innovators through collective action. Together, we can create lasting change.
Next Generation has a commitment to focus on people and on building intergenerational leadership. Their grantees are ambitious change makers with a young mindset “in heart and approach”, regardless of their age.
What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.

In April 2013, 10x10 began its journey, hosting our first 10x10 event out of our Paddington office, where we managed to raise $10,000 for three local Sydney charities. Fast forward a decade to April 2023, and we celebrated our 10th anniversary in style at the Sydney Modern Art Gallery. This sold out evening, led by project lead Nikita Sernack, raised $250,000 for Twenty10, Pass it On, Enrise, breaking 10x10’s attendance record!
The night was a blend of culture and community spirit, featuring performances from one of Sydney's finest violinists, alongside a spread of drinks, canapés, and some truly amazing raffle and auction prizes. Our shark, Ian Elliot led an engaging panel discussion, where our SPOs shared their impactful work in tackling poverty, promoting equality, and fostering inclusion. This event was a testament to 10x10's significant growth and influence over the past decade. It's incredible to see how far we've come, and it's all thanks to the dedication and support of our community.
